The solid cover for the fender was an option I decided to add.  They were a pre-cut half circle made to weld on the inside back lip of the fender.  They were purchased at the shop where I ordered the axle and cost about $10 each.  They should reduce the amount of debris and road spray from hitting the hull and also added strength to the fender itself.
